French Cruise Secrets: Marne River

French Cruise Secrets: Marne River

River Marne has inspired artists, such as Cézanne and Pissarro, for many years, and continues to inspire everyone who meets today. Barging vacations in France are an ideal way to experience the rich history of Marne, as well as learn more about technical accomplishments that help make it an important trade route across the country. French Cruise Secrets: Marne River
To the Seine: The River Marne Basics

The French waterway is 514 kilometers long and starts in the Langres highlands. The river headed west, joining the famous Seine Seine in the upper reaches of Paris. On its way through the French countryside, Marne passes through a captivating location like Meaux – famous for its ‘Prince of Cheese’ brie – and Jouarre village, home to a stunning 12th century Benedictine monastery. Along with its centuries-old heritage, this French region has an impressive wine-growing tradition. French Cruise Secrets: Marne River

The oldest lotus in France?

The Canal de Cornillon at Meaux was built about 800 years ago at the beginning of the 13th century. This canal is the oldest in France and built as a 500m short cut, bypassing a very generous watering river. In the nineteenth century, Marne became an important trade route, connecting Paris with the eastern rivers, therefore many lateral canals were built to aid its navigation. The most impressive canal is the 64-kilometer Canal latéal à la Marne, which handles a height difference of over 30 meters with 15 keys.

What to Look For in Barge Vacations in France

If you are lucky enough to sail along Marne during your barge vacation in France, there are some sites you should not miss. The countryside around the river was very important in the second world war. In fact, Château-Thierry – best known for its multiple war graves and warnings – is at the center of the last German attack on WW1. Visit the funeral that runs in Belleau Wood, which was established in honor of the 4th Marine Brigade of the 2nd Army Division of the U.S. The remains of the nearby trenches and shell holes serve as a visual reminder of the battles that occurred in this area.

With a lighter note, you should visit the delightful city of Epernay – the Champagne capital (the drink!). The famous Avenue de Champagne is lined with impressive mansions and is home to the region’s most prestigious wine producers, if not the world. You’ll find people like Moët et Chandon, Mercier, Veuve Clicquot, Pol Roger and de Castellane. As you roam around town remember that over 200 underground cave miles are under your feet. Sprinkled with some of the world’s most whiny bubbly, some of these cellars are open for tours, a wonderful introduction to the Champagne magic world.

Perhaps this glimpse of Marne River culture and history has encouraged you to venture into its waters for the next barge vacation in France. French Cruise Secrets: Marne River

How To Cover Health Care During Vacation in Finland

How To Cover Health Care During Vacation in Finland

A beautiful destination for summer and winter holidays, Finland has so much to offer to discerning travelers. But before you go, it is advisable to invest in a comprehensive travel insurance. Although Finland is in the EU and honors reciprocal health agreements with the UK, there are limits to what is covered. Here we outline what is provided by the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) and why comprehensive travel insurance should be reserved.
Accessing Health Care in Finland

How To Cover Health Care During Vacation in Finland

If you require non-emergency treatment while on vacation in Finland, you should go to a local city health center, where you can see a doctor, dentist or even a radiographer. Once you find the city health center, you have to make an appointment, which you need to get to or face a 39.60 no-show fee. Your EHIC card entitles you to free health care, but small donations may be required depending on the municipality that is your health center. Visits to a doctor, for example, can cost between € 16.10 and € 22.10, depending on whether the visit is a regular or out-of-hours one. This includes laboratory services and x-rays as well.

Under the age of 18 is treated free of charge, unless it is treated personally. In this case payment is required up front and only comprehensive travel insurance that allows you to refund the money paid.

Hospitals in Finland are almost all owned in the city, but if you prefer to receive personal care, there are several private hospitals as well. Of course, your EHIC does not cover personal care in Finland unless the care provided is clinically necessary, and you can even claim back 20-30% of the cost. If you find yourself in this position, you must file a replacement claim within six months and the claim must be submitted to the Finnish government’s social insurance authority, known as Kela. How To Cover Health Care During Vacation in Finland

The recipe is paid when you receive it at the pharmacy but you can claim the fee again as long as you keep the receipt for presentation at your local Kela office.

Accessing Dental Care in Finland

If you need dental treatment while in Finland, as long as you have a valid EHIC, you will pay the same fee as a resident. Initial visits usually cost around € 10, and then extra care is charged depending on what is needed. A comprehensive travel insurance policy will tend to cover all your dental care, but check the policy before you travel.

And visit the hospital?

Unsolicited hospital visits in Finland require physician referrals. The word for hospitals in Finland is sairaala. As long as your EHIC enters and hospitals are not private homes you will be able to benefit from minimal maintenance costs, as did the Finns. Comprehensive travel insurance, on the other hand, may cover the entire cost of any treatment, whether you are in a private hospital or a public hospital.

When in Finland, an EHIC is very valuable. But if you want to make sure that you’re completely covered for all the possibilities, adequate travel insurance is a wise investment.

Courmayeur: the Ski Resort for Gourmands

Courmayeur: the Ski Resort for Gourmands

The Italian ski resort of Courmayeur has a rich tradition of fine-dining and gastronomy. It is a culture which the town is proud to celebrate in events throughout the year, including a range of food festivals highlighting everything from traditional local fare to international haute cuisine.
A Destination for Some of the World’s Top Chefs

It is this history of excellent food which has attracted many of the world’s leading chefs to the resort over the years. Leading names such as Heston Blumenthal, Sat Bains, Claude Bosi, Marcus Wareing and Jason Atherton have all made the journey from Geneva to Courmayeur to create gourmet experiences in the resort.

Blumenthal is so enamoured with the resort and its culinary pedigree that for the last four years he has hosted his own Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience in which he and other leading chefs create a gastronomic mountain treat for a select clientele.

Bookings are now available for the Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience 2018 (20-23 March).

Excellent Restaurants

Alongside the famous names with their Michelin stars are a fantastic range of local restaurants, many of them family-run, which serve excellent local cuisine of an exceptionally high standard.

There are so many that it can be hard to choose which to visit during a short stay, so here are my suggestions for the best places to eat in Courmayeur.

• Hotel Christiania Set in Plan Checrouit, the restaurant at the Hotel Christiania is run by its enthusiastic owners Carlo and Marisa. This is the place to come if you want to enjoy a leisurely lunch of pizza and pasta, done the authentic Italian way. Sit on the sunny terrace and soak up the atmosphere in this excellent eatery.

• Maison Vieille The food in the mountain restaurants of the resort is so good that the authorities have extended the hours of the cable car to midnight so that visitors can enjoy supper under the stars at restaurants like Maison Vieille. Here you will enjoy local meats, pastas and a range of delectable deserts. The wine list here is wonderful, full of local wines that the owners will encourage you to try.

• Chiecco For fine dining on the slopes, check out the traditional wooden chalet just above Plan Checrouit which houses Chiecco. The menu is made up of local produce and includes such mouth-watering treats as wild boar and polenta, ricotta ravioli and excellent ragùs.

• Chateau Branlant Dinner at the Chateau Branlant starts off with an exciting snow mobile ride from the top of the Dolonne or Courmayeur gondolas to the restaurant, with another one back at the end of your night. If this wasn’t reason enough to visit, then the delicious, authentic Italian cuisine should be. My advice is to try the daily specials, which are usually the best thing on what is always an exquisite menu.

Getting There

Foodies will have no trouble getting to the resort thanks to the wide range of flights into Geneva from the UK. The transfer journey from Geneva to Courmayeur takes around an hour and a half.

For an executive transfer from Geneva to Courmayeur, book online with Shuttle Direct before you leave home and one of our drivers will be waiting to meet you when you land.

Enjoy Christmas With the Children in La Plagne

Enjoy Christmas With the Children in La Plagne

Christmas decorations have started to appear in the shops, meaning that now’s the time to start preparations for the festive period (especially if you have little ones!). If you want to treat the family to a special Christmas and something a little different this year, then I highly recommend spending the holidays in the snowy La Plagne. Chalets serve as fan-tastic holiday havens, and there are many cosy and family-friendly ones to choose from. Additionally, the resort is always transformed into a winter wonderland. What could be better than a magical white Christmas?
I adore the holiday season in La Plagne, and families always seem to have an unforget-table celebration. Here is what you can expect over the Christmas period.

Atmosphere

It is impossible not to get caught up in festive excitement, as everybody is on their holiday and the entire area looks like something out of a Christmas film! This creates an electric atmosphere that simply cannot be matched back at home.

Decorations

Christmas decorations and lights are placed all over the resort, transforming the area and creating a festive vibe. There is also a gigantic Christmas tree in the centre, which will take your breath away.

Skiing

Skiing in La Plagne is an absolute must, and you can even do this on Christmas Day. It is a great way to get some exercise before indulging the rest of the day! The ski lifts and schools operate as normal, but there’s a unique atmosphere in the air. Be sure to look out for skiing Santas!

Christmas Events

La Plagne has many cheerful Christmas events that the whole family can enjoy. Im-merse yourself in the festivities by checking out a fun play or show, or spend time trawl-ing the bustling Christmas markets. Here you can discover all kinds of great gifts or find something tasty to eat.

Santa Visits

No Christmas is complete without seeing jolly old Saint Nick, and he always stops by on his sleigh to visit the kids and bring plenty of festive cheer (and presents, of course!).

Fireworks and Street Parades

Another reason that the atmosphere is so spirited is because wonderful street parades take place around La Plagne. These colourful, lively and often musical parades really unite the village and bring people together. There are also brilliant firework displays that are set against the stunning backdrop of the Alps and the twinkling blanket of stars above.

Restaurants

Need another fantastic motive for coming for Christmas? You don’t have to cook or wash up! Simply book a table at one of the many terrific restaurants, which have special festive menus with traditional dishes and all the trimmings. If you want to enjoy Christmas dinner at a restaurant, be sure to book in advance.

It gets better: the cosy accommodation is perfect for a snug Christmas in La Plagne. Chalet catering is available as well, which is convenient if you want to take a break from cooking and have all of your food taken care of.

Gifts

Whilst you may be able to find a few presents at the markets and around town, it is im-portant to be aware that the shops are quite limited, so it is best to bring your big presents with you.

Provided your taxi is now with a taxi insurance agent in Virginia

Life is too uncertain. We do not know when disasters could befall great losses in life as well as financial losses. It can happen even when you’re busy surfing the internet. The concept of insurance derives from the initial method of risk transfer that was practiced in Babylonian civilization in the 3rd century BC. This is a form of risk management to protect against the potential risks of uncertainty such as house fire, car accident or theft. Even insurance companies pay money when a person becomes too ill and also the family receives money after the person dies.
An entity, which provides insurance, is known as an insurance company. The money received by the insured entity at the risk is actually a premium fund paid by the entity. These funds depend on the frequency and type of insurance. The insurance work process in three steps – Choosing a policy, Paying premiums on time, Claiming the amount of insurance.

There are mainly two types of insurance namely. Life Insurance and General Insurance. General insurance covers various aspects of property, vehicles, business, health to travel insurance and payment protection insurance. Life insurance covers risks due to premature death as well as income after retirement. The life insurance period is more than one year and requires periodic premium payment. General insurance has a coverage period of less than one year and also requires periodic premium payments. Property insurance came after a major London fire and a life insurance policy began in the eighteenth century. Provided your taxi is now with a taxi insurance agent in Virginia

Road accidents happen regularly to taxis and a ruined life as well as a future for the person and his family. For people, who get bread and butter from a taxi service down the street Virginia should get their taxi insured through a suitable taxi insurance agent in Virginia. Taxi insurance agents in Virginia provide access to insurance companies that have cheaper premiums with greater coverage.

Here are some tips for buying insurance: Provided your taxi is now with a taxi insurance agent in Virginia

• Buy from a trusted company through authorized agents: Insurance is intended as financial security in the event of a risk. Check from the official government website about the credibility of the company.

• Avoid buying available free insurance with other packages: You may get travel insurance when booking travel tickets or health insurance when you check-up at the hospital. They generally do not cover all your needs and charge a hefty premium. They provide unnecessary unnecessary coverage at all.

• Check citations from various sites: A cheaper premium does not guarantee better coverage. So when checking quotes from at least three companies check the amount of premiums and the level of coverage. You may be lucky if you show an insurance agent with a much cheaper premium and probably will reduce your current insurance policy.

• Assure your insurance carefully: Read among policy lines. It is clear about your need to get the insured. Understand the scope, terms and conditions of the company carefully. Check the date when you can start claiming your insurance.

• Ensure premiums to be paid: You will be financially secure at risk only when you pay your premiums regularly – every three months, yearly or monthly. This premium must be paid to the insurance company and not the agent. Make sure you can handle the premium though the rate of increase later.

Why You Should Review Your Auto Insurance Policy

Why You Should Review Your Auto Insurance Policy

You may have car insurance in Altoona, PA, or other cities for years. Pay your monthly premiums automatically now. But there’s a good reason to review your auto insurance policy at least annually to ensure that your information and coverage are up-to-date. And while you can save money by doing that, it’s important not just because of the savings.
Keep Your Information Updated

Why You Should Review Your Auto Insurance Policy

Your insurance company wants to make you a customer, but they do not want to work too hard for it. Therefore, you can not expect them to contact you often to make sure you do not move, change your driving habits, or add additional drivers for your family. The problem is that if you do not tell them these things, they may deny the claim if you have one.

It might be a good idea to review all your insurance policies (not just automatically) simultaneously by taxing and reviewing your credit report. Your address, vehicle information, driver’s license number, and driving habits should always keep up to date. And if you buy a new car or let someone else drive your car, then you need to immediately notify your insurance company.

Review your Coverage

It may seem boring but it’s important to carefully evaluate your insurance coverage. At a minimum, your coverage limit must be in accordance with the requirements of the country where you live. But the minimum is not always good enough. If your expensive vehicle crashes, you may get just a small amount of value because of your limited range.

On the other hand, it is quite possible that your car is not even worth the amount of your deductible. And while you have to bring uninsured rider coverage, you can drop collisions and comprehensive coverage to save money on your monthly premium. In this case, you should know that you have to pay for all necessary repairs from your own pocket.

Consider Getting Rental Options Car

Most auto insurance policies include the option of paying for a car rental. You have to consider carefully what will be the best choice for you. On the one hand you may want to save money and avoid paying unnecessary rent. If you have many vehicles and can do it without one of them, then you probably do not have to worry about rental coverage.

On the other hand, if you only have one car or just one car that can accommodate every family member, then rental coverage makes sense. To find the amount you need to rent a car, you can get a short offer from a local car rental place. Your insurance does not need to cover all of it, but even $ 20 a day can really increase, considering your car may be in the store for weeks.

Do You Need Road Aid?

When it comes to roadside assistance, you should ask yourself a similar question. If you have additional vehicles and drivers, you may be able to get family members to help you by changing a flat tire or jump-start your battery. On the other hand, if you do not tend to be mechanical and have an older vehicle, calling for help by the side of the road can be a real savior.

Whether roadside assistance is useful or not depends on where you live. If you’re in the middle of nowhere, it takes a while to get help from anyone. All in all, it is important to adjust your car insurance in Altoona, PA, or wherever you live to get the coverage you need. Why You Should Review Your Auto Insurance Policy
